RE: 2008 Dodge Hemi Issues

OK that was probably 100 a month. In this or any other economy, it makes sense, right?
I looked at all of the "numbers" again last night. Difference in monthly payment between 1500 and 3500 was $175 per month. As for our budget, the 3500 was $110 over per month.
That's better I figured it was monthly however I have seen guy here post he walked away from a deal over $50 off the total price of a truck. If $50 bucks is a deal buster then you really didn't want to buy a truck in the first place. :R
Not sure if there is anything that installing the bush guard could do. But if it were me like others have said take it to a different dealer don't tell them the history other then your not happy with the service were you bought it and ask if they could have a Tech go for a ride with you. If this truck is running as bad as you say I can't understand why it has not thrown a code or two.

RE: 2008 Dodge Hemi Issues

Yes, I am whining some. The new 3500 6.7L came out $100 over our budget limits. My truck that was totalled we bought for $10k off last year and had $7k trade in allowance from the 2003 Dmax. Even with GAP insurance, I still had to pay to clear to the note on the 2007.
Maybe you have a good Hemi and I have a lemon? Either way, the dealership says it is "normal". The more I read on the internet forums, the more I also come to this conclusion.
So, I am left with a gutless wonder that drinks gas.
P.S. I even looked at a used truck. But, short of a divorce I couldn't make that one work either.
You walked away from a 3500 6.7 CTD and bought a 1500 5.7 Hemi to save $100? Well sorry but something other then Momma's Boy or Troll comes to mind here! :R

RE: Slideout support

I would also add for the sewer if the TT does not have a tank rinse system pick up a Flush King or similar product to add in dumping and flushing your tanks. There is a sticky some were with a list (starting list) of some things you should have and also recommendations on optional items. Maybe the Mod can point you in the right driction for this.
Good luck be safe and enjoy you new RV.

RE: 2008 Dodge Hemi Issues

Question for you guys with the MDS system, can you feel the cylinders shut down, does the RPM drop any as the cylinders shut down, wouldn’t think so but not sure.
I remember when GM came out with this in the Caddy and there was a lot derivability issues with it.

RE: Running the a/c while driving a travel trailer (TT)

A generator would be about the easiest way to do it and if you buy a diesel one you can pull fuel from your trucks tank. Just use a quick disconnect and racket straps to keep the genset in place.
Now I have to ask if you are letting people ride in your TT when it is legal to do so why would you care if a LEO sees your genset? Makes me think you are doing this in states that don’t allow it maybe?
BTW Ohio allows passengers in a TT even with a bumper pull.

RE: Broken wheel studs

Well before you go back to the shop and make a fuss over them dropping the ball you need to look in your rear view mirror and take on some of the blame yourself.
If you read your owners manual it well say you must re-torque your wheels anytime you remove and reinstall your wheels.
I just had my tires rotated and right on the repair order it states that you must check or return to the shop to have your lug nuts re-torque after 100 miles(they require you to initial this also. ). So if you didn’t check them or have the shop check them kind of falls on your shoulders.
Now with that said I’m sure that the shop failed to torque the lug nuts as all of them were loose but bottom line is we need to hold up our end right?

RE: NEWBY - LONG POST -- SORRY

Are you going to keep the TT for camping after your home is rebuilt? If not then you could have a company come out and spray the bottom of the TT with expanding foam insulation. Then buy some straw bails and put them under the TT out to the edge, then buy some skirting to go all the way around the TT. Would not run any heaters under the TT at all no mater what you use to insulate it. How are you going to handle the sewer line?
Has your insurance company given you any money to cover this expense? A better option would have been to pick up a used mobile home and put it on your property instead of a TT IMO they are set up for this were as a TT really is not. If it gets down to -20 in your area you are going to use a ton of Propane so if you have a tank on your property I would tap into that, if not have a company drop off a 500 gallon tank for you.
Good luck

RE: Outside banged up by awning

Put some NASCAR tape (duck tape) over the crack if you think it is all the way thru the side. Then find a body shop you trust and have them repair it. If they are good you will never see the repair.

RE: Table in camper problems

You guys understand that Aluminum is
1. As strong as SS and some alloys out performs SS.
2. Easier to machine
3. Costs far less
4. Weighs 2/3 less then SS
And before someone asks nope I don’t have stock in any Aluminum Foundries however the OP asked for viable options not pie in the sky options. Heck if Money is no option turn that bad boy up using Titanium it will out last your TT, TV and even you.
Not sure why the OP experienced this failure but maybe someone pushed on the side of the table getting in or out? Maybe it was just a bad casting maybe the OP should look into the flush mount and get a longer table post.
I know our DS used to push down on the table as he got in and out and after explaining to him why he should not do this he is pretty good about not doing it anymore. At any rate if this was the first time the OP has experienced this failure then I would say pick up another set and go from there. If this set breaks then maybe look into how people are getting in and out of the dinette to correct the problem.

RE: 2005 KEYSTONE LITE FRAME FAILURE

What did the guy that did the repair say about how the trailer was built? Does he have a professional opinion on what caused the frame to bend in the first place? I’m sure he had some idea as to just what caused the failure, be it poor engineering, a bad batch of material or over loading the noise of the trailer and or wrong WD bars.
I understand that it is Human nature to want to place the blame to someone or something other then ourselves, but I have not read about catastrophic frame failures in the Keystone Lite travel trailers. I’m not saying you are at fault however for anyone to say it is Keystones and or the Frame Companies fault from what you have posted just is not flying in my eyes, sorry.
Post some pics of the trailer before the repair and after the repair so we can see just what happened please. BTW did you file a report with the NHTSA like I suggested?

RE: 2008 Dodge Hemi Issues

Are you sure it isn’t the MDS kicking in, I have never had one but would think if it drops 2 cylinders (V-8 to V-6) then drops 2 more cylinders (V-8-6-4) the RPM should also drop too right?
Just thinking out loud here, but maybe it is working the way it was designed too.

RE: Bees

Kmart has one for 50 bucks and Dick’s Sporting Goods has them for 50/170 according to how big you go. Ours was 12X15 but I think we will be replacing it with the 10X10 one from Kmart.

RE: Table in camper problems

Try taking the aluminum or pot metal ones that you have that are not cracked to a metal fab shop and have him make some out of stainless stock.
What is up with the Stainless guys? You own stock in a Steel Mill? :@
If you are going to use billet (sold stock), then use Aluminum. I think he just needs to buy the stock die-cast mounts and replace the polls at the same time, maybe they just wore out. We haven’t broken one in any of the three campers we have had.

RE: towing a bumper pull 5000 to 9000 lbs. 900 lbs tongue wt.

I know U-Haul won’t put a car hauler on a bumper. There should be a Max Tow weight limit stamped on the bumper, if not call GM and they will tell you what it is. I would think 5K is the max limit on any bumper. TW limit is 500# on any bumper I have looked at.

RE: 2008 Dodge Hemi Issues

Or maybe the engine just needs to brake in, you know rings need to seat, bearings need to wear in (tight in new engines) give her a chance to seat in. You more then likely will not see that 17 MPG until you hit that 2/3K mark then maybe another small jump after 10K.
Don
If it has the MDS System 17 MPG is well within it’s limits and more if you drive them right.

RE: New Truck Break-In

OK are the gears in lets say a class 4500/5500 and up any different then in your pick up? I don’t think so, and I know that no Tow Truck Company will run their trucks around town for 500 miles not towing anything, and I have been in a few with well over 200K on them.
Same goes for a big truck however most of them are delivered with the rear tandems on the ground. The point I’m trying to make is I don’t know that failing to not tow with in the 500 mile limit will do any harm to your truck.
